Now available on the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons. You can also install it manually from a GitHub release or straight from source (see below).

What it does

Install

Chrome / Chromium / Edge

Recommended: install from the Chrome Web Store. To load an unpacked build instead:

  1. Download and unzip the latest Chrome release (or clone the source).
  2. Open chrome://extensions and enable Developer mode.
  3. Select Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder.

Firefox

Recommended: install from Firefox Add-ons. To load a temporary build instead:

  1. Download and unzip the latest Firefox release (or clone the source).
  2. Open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox.
  3. Select Load Temporary Add-on… and choose manifest.json. Temporary add-ons are removed on restart; for a persistent session use Mozilla's web-ext CLI.

Privacy

AdVeil requests broad permissions (<all_urls>) because ad detection has to run on every page load. Nothing is collected, transmitted, or sold - see the full privacy policy for exactly what that access is used for.

Open source

Full source code, including the backend for the optional bug-report feature, is available at github.com/achintha-ekanayake/AdVeil. Contributions are welcome - see CONTRIBUTING.md.
